Jadhav Trail: EU Condemns Pakistan

A majority of the European Parliament (EU) adopted a resolution condemning Paskitan for not respecting human rights and its international law breach in not allowing access consular services to the India national Kulbushan Jadhav, condemned to death in an espionage case.

An EU spokesperson said Pakistan must show better respect of human rights if the country wishes to remain a partner in the future. An EU delegation visited the country in April this year expressed “deep concern at the alarming rate of executions following flawed trials” and noted that the situation only seems to be worsening for human rights activists, NGOs and foreign nationals. If this situation continues, the EU might review Pakistan`s access to GSP+.
