`Escape from Uganda' is one rare movie that was shot in the exotic locales of Uganda. Directed by Rajesh Nair, the movie plots in a sensible story that but lacks believability in the final reels.

The movie has Reema Kallingal as Shikha Samuel, an Indian women working as a costume designer setting p as boutique. She is leading a happy life with her husband Jayakrishnan, with whom she eloped to this African nation years ago. They have a school  going child Meenakshy. One fine days when she was travelling to one of her friend's house to deliver a jewel studded gown, she is accused for killing two women including the daughter of the city Mayor and is sent to jail. With the only man who could help them from the Indian community, Adv Feroz is shot dead, Jayakrishnan is left with few options to bail out his wife. In comes Antony, a weird but funny man who agrees to save Shikha, if he is  paid handsomely for the deed.

Though inspired from many Hollywood thrillers including 'The next three days', the movie packs in enough to keep an average viewer satisfied. Though the hard core thrills are missing here, there is a bit of suspense , not that difficult to crack. The cinematography by Vishnu Sharma  is quite impressive while the rest of the technical crew has managed to make the movie slick, though shooting in an alien country.

The final thirty minutes is quite in the thriller mode with Rima Kallingal trying her best to look impressive in a fine character.Vijay Babu is impressive as her husband while Parthipan steals the show as Antony with a lot of one liners. The African actors are believable while Martin Morais as the investigative officer lend the optimum support.

The songs by Gopi Sundar and Varun looked good, aptly supporting the mood of the film.

All in all, this escape from Uganda' may not be a bad thriller' if you hadn't been a big regular with the  thriller mode. For the rest, the movie may not offer anything big other than the bird's eye view shots of Uganda.
