The Tamil Nadu Tax Exemption Committee gave yet another blow to Actor, Producer Udhayanidhi Stalin by refusing to grant the 30% Entertainment Tax Exemption given for the U Certified Tamil films that fulfill certain other conditions including a Tamil title for the film.
The committee in its report to the Government had observed that the film directed by Thirukumaran of 'Maan Karate' fame is not eligible for Tax exemption citing that the word Gethu is not a Tamil word. Interestingly all the six members of the committee who watched the film have suggested that the film fulfills all other criteria and the it becomes unqualified for the exemption only because the title is not a Tamil word.
However Udhay who has earlier charged the committee of bias for not granting the exemption to his previous films has taken the screen shot of Tamil dictionary which includes the term Gethu and its meaning is cited as 'Thandhiram' and has shared it in his Official Twitter handle.
Sources close to the actor-producer say that he will take the legal route to counter this denial.
'Gethu' starring Udhayanidhi Stalin, Amy Jackson, Sathyaraj, Vikranth and Karunakaran was release don January 14 and it has got positive reviews from critics and audience. The film has been produced by Udhay under his Red Giant Movies banner,
