What is it all about?

A consistently spoofy perky tongue keeping the audience cheeks spread in glee. ‘Entertainment’ is not a great shaker as a Bollywood movie on dogs or pet animals, but writers turned directors Farhad and Sajid LOL one liners slaps it’s broad and obvious clichés to make the movie permanently stick only to one thing ‘Entertainment’ with glues of unabashed, slapstick, street smart, tongue and cheek humor, making it irresistible to kids, pet lovers, families and those adults who prefer being kid by heart and mind whenever they watch a film. Tips and Pen have a winner here.

The Story

Farhad and Sajid rhyme (read write) the screenplay to K. Subash story with all the buffoonery, tongue and cheek glory the ‘Kader Khans’ of this millennium Farhan and Sajid hilarious one liners and gags come in plenty in the story of Akhil Lokhande, (Akhshay Kumar) - a pita ‘bhakht’ who takes all sorts of odd jobs to take care of his ‘bimar’ papa (played by Darshan Jariwala) admitted in a posh hospital. One day papa gets caught red-handed flirting with the nurse and enjoying his 5-star stay in the hospital. Being caught ‘chalu’ papa confesses that Akhil is not his real son and as luck would have it Akhil finds out that he is the love child of millionaire diamond merchant Pannalal Johri (Dilip Tahil). Immediately news of Pannalal’s death crashes Akhil’s millionaire dreams when he comes to know that the entire property has being named after Entertainment - Pannalal’s pet dog his most trusted and loved companion.

Krushna Abhishek (Akhil’s buddy) motivates him to kill the dog for his rights but the Entertainment turns out to be god gifted and one step ahead. Meanwhile Pannalal’s brother Karan and Arjun (played by Sonu Sood and Prakash Raj) are also eyeing their brothers ‘Jayadadh’ serving Jail sentence Karan and Arjun plan to fix the ‘najajayaj aulad’ Akshay for the property, while Akshay is desperate to eliminate Entertainment for a dream life with his to be wife Saakshi (Tamannaah) whose father (Mithun Chakraborty) wants a corepati damaad. Who wins in this mad rush of fun finds the crux of the story.

What to look out for

An out an out entertainer ‘Entertainment’ introduces new doctors of comedy for the audience in Farhad and Sajid as directors. Both have proven their mettle in tickling the funny bones with Bol Bachchan, Chennai Express, Golmaal 3 as writers. The USP of ‘Entertainment’ are its brilliant one liners spoofing on bollywood and its celebrities. Picture this - Mera nam sun kar A ‘shock’ kumar lagaa na... ‘Diya’ Mirza bhi lekar agar gumooge toh aisa ‘Kunal’ Khemu pure Riteish ‘Desh’ much mein nahi milega.. while reading it may sound absurd but Farhad and Sajid use such outlandish hilarity to such convincing amusement that can make even the worse cynic wring a smile somewhere during its two plus hours duration. As directors Farhad and Sajid make a happy impact by making things snappy with constant delivery of chuckles.

The actors compliment in big way and wag accordingly to the demands of the director duo.

Akshay Kumar is complete fun. Entertaining the audience to the core the b-town quotient of style, action and fitness is in complete command and in full flow. Playing completely to the gallery the Khiladi Kumar gives a complete paisa vasool act.

Krushna Abhishek is brilliantly hilarious. He gets some cracking lines from Farhad and Sajid. His camaraderie with Akshay is the major highlight. Such is the impact of his role that whenever he comes on screen the audiences post a smile on their face and start expecting a smart one coming. Krushna does better then ‘Bol Bachchan’.

Johnny Lever is super. The veteran comedian pulls a class act. He is so natural, at ease while doing those tough comedy scenes. Watch him in the Knife scene during the pre climax it’s simply superb.

Prakash Raj entertains. Sonu Sood is funny as well. Tamannaah Bhatia adds the required glamour and does get some scope to show her talent.

Dilip Tahil and Darshan Jariwala are competent.

Last but not the least, the wonder dog Junior is outstanding. The bonding between Akshay and Junior is a highlight.

Music by Sachin-Jigar is peppy, Jhony Jhony is already popping the charts. Production values are top notch. Technicalities are fine.

What not

‘Entertainment’ sticks to cliché tried, tested and trusted demands of a bollywood entertainer. The desire to take B-town pet/dog movies to a different level is completely absent. B-town pet movies like ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’ starring Rajesh Khanna, ,The national award winner ‘Safed Haathi’, Santosh Sivan’s ‘Halo’, even ‘Teri Meherbaniya’ made even the thinking emotional adult root for it. Needless to add but still the script decides its convenience at will.

Conclusion: Rhymed with smarty one liners and unabashed slapstick humour, ‘Entertainment’ entertains the child and the child at heart. Bow vow (read go) for it.
