English singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran announced that he has quit smoking marijuana because he prefers to be “alert.” He also claimed that all of his creativity surfaced when he was sober.
The singer, in an attempt to ditch his ‘boring boy’ image, wrote and performed the song ‘Sweet Mary Jane’, signifying his love for drugs. “I’ve stopped smoking weed. I found myself just sitting at home watching films. I only ever create (when I’m) sober. I like to be alert. I find most ideas happen when you have a cup of tea. For me, anyway.” He added that he has also decided to ditch alcohol until his live concerts are over. “We don’t have booze in the venue until after the gig. I love embracing chaos, but only when the job is done. I worked really hard to get into this position - and I’m going to continue working hard to maintain that position and grow,” Sheeran said.
The first two singles from Ed Sheeran’s album ÷, ‘Shape of you’ and ‘Castle on the Hill’, were released in January 2017 and broke records in a number of countries. In April 2018, ÷ was named the best-selling album worldwide of 2017.
