The West Indies cricketers will have a ‘Black Lives Matter’ logo on the collars of their shirts during the upcoming three-Test series against England in an initiative to fight racism existing in sports.
West Indies captain Jason Holder has already supported the black lives matter campaign which grew stronger after the killing of American George Floyd, said that the West Indies players believe they have the duty to show solidarity besides creating awareness.
The logo has been approved by the ICC and was designed by Alisha Hosannah. It was featured in the shirts of 20 Premier League football clubs in matches held this month.The West Indies players will wear the shirts for the first time in the four-day warm-up match on Monday. The opening Test of the series, begins at the Agaes Bowl in Southampton on July 8.
