Three students of a private engineering college had drowned in the Marina Beach on Sunday. While one of their bodies was washed ashore, two of them who are still missing are presumed dead, according to reports.
The incident happened on December 9 when eight students of Sri Venkateswara Engineering College of Sriperumbudur decided to visit the Marina Beach, all of whom are hostellers in the same college. Dinesh, Bharadwaj, and Jayakeerthi Varma had decided to go to the sea, while the remaining five decided to stay by the shore.
When they realized that their friends had gone missing, they decided to search for them, and eventually found their slippers washed ashore. The police were then alerted, who started looking for the missing students along with the fishermen.
Dinesh’s body was washed ashore later on Sunday, and the body was sent for autopsy at the Royapettah Government Hospital. The other two still remain missing and are feared dead by the police.
