After giving Bollywood hits aplenty, superstar Emraan Hashmi is foraying into international cinema. In what is one of the most exciting global collaborations in cinema, Bollywood's biggest talent and world cinema's hottest are coming together for a very special project.
Emraan and chartbuster spinner Pritam will work with Danis Tanovic (No Man's Land) for the Oscar-winning director's next film.
Cinemorphic, the production house of Prashita Chaudhary, will produce the film in co-production with Anurag Kashyap and Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment in India and internationally with Cedomir Kolar and Marc Baschet. "I believe cinema to be a barrier-breaking medium," says Prashita.
"I'm fortunate to be working with some of the best in the industry and look forward to partnering with like minded individuals who believe in the power of cinema."
Speaking about his international debut, Emraan said, "Its not every day that an actor gets to work with a director whose no stranger to the Academy awards. Its a huge honour to be working with Danis and we hope to create some great cinema together that will entertain audiences both on the home turf and in the west."
Tanovic is equally excited to work with Emraan. "I really think Emraan is a wonderful actor," Tanovic says. "It is going to be a pleasure working with him. We both are on the same page and thats very rare to find. Also, I happened to hear Pritams music and thought he was going to be great for the film."
Who better than writer-director Anurag Kashyap to believe in the power of such cinematic collaborations? "I had met Danis Tanovic years ago and I wrote a blog about meeting him on PFC.
I have been an admirer of his since No Man's Land. And then I read the script of this film and loved it and am happy that Prashita, Guneet, Marc and Cedomir are making it possible. I am also happy that Emraan is on board," Kashyap says.
