After being in the news for over a year, Azhar is now hitting the screens this Friday. The film has managed to build good curiosity around it and the controversial subject has ensured that the buzz is on a constant upswing. In fact last fortnight especially has seen an increase in hype for the Tony D'Souza directed film which means the stage is set for it to see some good response from the audience. The film is looking interesting and one expects good drama in the offering.
As an actor, Emraan Hashmi has been delivering consistently well and it is a matter of one big film to help him soar at the Box Office too. His last release Hamari Adhuri Kahani had just about average opening (5.1 crore) and Azhar is all set to surpass that number by a good margin. As things stand today, the film should open in 7-9 crore zone which should give it a decent footing to soar further once the word of mouth sets in.
The other notable release of the week is Buddha In A Traffic Jam. The Vivek Agnihotri directed socio-political film has been in the middle of controversies and also seen some protests, especially in the universities. The film would be seeing a limited release for itself and its commercial response would be entirely driven by critical acclaim and audience word of mouth.
Arvind Swamy's Dear Dad is releasing without much of a promotion and there is hardly any awareness around it. On the other hand single screen flicks like Chudail Story and Khel To Abb Shuru Hoga would struggle to find an all-India release.
