Elon Musk taking over Twitter will mean that the social media platform will become a privately-held company. There are murmurs that the billionaire is going to muzzle inconvenient voices (among them journalists, activists, etc) but Musk has assured that the Twitter policies are going to be forward-looking and progressive.

Musk's supporters are believing that Twitter is going to come up with an Edit button. This will improve the user experience. A lot of users routinely make mistakes which they can't correct in the present set-up.

Also, censoring by governments will go down. Shadow-banning of Twitter accounts will be a thing of the past, many believe. Algorithms will be made public, while span bots will be eliminated. All humans will be authenticated. Free speech will be encouraged.

These are hopes on the basis of what Musk has been indicating.

There are also fears that Musk is going to make Twitter a subscription-based platform, much like Amazon Prime and Netflix are.
