If there's one thing that AMC has proven over the past several years, this generation loves bad guys. That's why we can have movies and TV shows told from the point of view of some of nefarious villains. Continuing to riff on that trend, Disney has decided to give Sleeping Beauty's her own moment int he spotlight. The upcoming film Maleficent will star Angelia Jolie in the central role, a wicked witch with a bone to pick with the local ingenue. But no matter how much we love villains, every one needs a hero—and word has it that Elle Fanning is a possibility to fill that slot.

Earlier this year, after a few different possibilities tossed around, Robert Stromberg was hired as director. Now, Fanning is reported to be in talks for the role of the narcoleptic princess. The young star's career has skyrocketed in the past year. After starting out her career with just a bit part as a two year-old baby in her sister's hit film I Am Sam (Elle really went method for that role), she has come to be memorable for her roles in Super 8 and We Bought a Zoo.

Fanning is also not entire unacquainted with Jolie's family. She has starred in two movies with Brad Pitt: Babel and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. As Fanning told Interview Magazine, ""I did Babel with [Pitt], but I never had any scenes with him in that movie because he was in Morocco filming and I was in Mexico. But there was one day when we were working on the same day, in L.A., and I got to meet him, so that was really cool. We're like, ""We've been in two movies together, but we've never met each other!"" Because we were both in Benjamin Button, too. He was really nice, though.""
