Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has on Wednesday got a new feather in the cap. Five eBuzz K9 electric buses are plying on Hyderabad roads. In future, 35 more will be added.
These are zero-emission buses and are thus environment-friendly. And they are air-conditioned. These are not only noiseless but also comfortable vehicles. Commuters going to the International Airport in the city will stand to use these five buses. Their seating capacity is 39, excluding the driver.
"These buses also provide convenience to the specially-abled and senior citizens," a report says.
As per a report, TSRTC had struck a deal with a company named Olectra-BYD on a Gross Cost Contract basis for the supply of 40 buses.
The Centre had provided a subsidy to the state under its Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric vehicles in India (FAME-I) scheme. The subsidy was Rs. 1 Cr for each bus.
