The 15th Karnataka State Assembly elections are announced for 12th of May and this 15th state assembly election from 4.96 voters results will be announced on 15th of May 2018 for formation of new government.

Rs 200 crore worth top stars budget cinemas – Munirathna Kurukshetra, The Villain, KGF, Natasarvabowma, Kavacha, Ambi Ning Vayassaithu, Yajamana, Pogaru and a few are locked for two months.

Remaining films worth nearly 100 crores from 50 to 60 Kannada films would also wait for the election fever to recede for release.

With 45 days ahead of state assembly elections, the biggest film ‘Munirathna Kurukshetra’ moves further for release. As Munirathna Naidu is a sitting MLA from Congress I and he is contesting again, the question of release of 50th film of challenging star Darshan as ‘Duryodhana’ in ‘Munirathna Kurukshetra’ is only in June.

As the concentration for state elections and some of the actors, producers and technicians are likely to be in the fray the films set for release hangs in balance.

With IPL starting from 7th of April, summer holidays and entire concentration on State Assembly elections – how the Kannada cinema industry would cop up with the set back is eagerly awaited.

·         Among super stars Power star Puneeth Rajakumar ‘Nata Sarvabowma’ is just on the floor.

·         Kichcha Sudeep and Shivanna combination ‘The Villain’ has not yet completed shoot, Sudeep and Ambarish in ‘Ambi Ning Vayassaithu’ is at shooting stage.

·         Challenging star Darshan ‘Munirathna Kurukshetra’ is ready but not set for release because producer of the film and a few actors in the film are likely to be in the fray, Darshan ‘Yajamana’ has just commenced shoot.

·         Yash starring KGF is at the final stages of shooting,

·         Dr Shivarajakumar ‘Kavacha’ a remake of ‘Oppam’ is on floor,

·         Srimurali has new announcement in Chetan Kumar direction, Golden star Ganesh ‘Orange’ is on floor and his wife Shilpa is likely to contest the Assembly elections.

·         Rakshit Shetty ‘Avne Srimannarayana’ has just commenced shooting.

·         V Ravichandran ‘Bakaasura’ and ‘Seizure’ are set for release.

·         Upendra has no film on hand as his political party got distracted.
