WATCH: Brave elderly couple beat and chase away robbers in TN

In a video that has been going viral on social media, an elderly couple is seen bravely confronting a couple of masked men who attempt to steal their belongings.
The couple, Shanmugavel (70) and Senthamarai (65), reside in a neighbourhood in Thirunelveli. The video, which is a CCTV footage of the lawn where Shanmugavel is relaxing, shows the robbers entering the premises, where one of them attempts to strangulate the old man by tightening a piece of cloth around his neck. Soon after, the woman comes out of the house and starts throwing furniture at the men, whose distraction relieves Shanmugavel of the clutches. The couple then throws anything and everything they can get their hands on at the dacoits until they eventually flee the spot. The brave act by the elderly couple has been lauded by several people on social media.
The police have registered an FIR based on the CCTV footage, and a formal investigation has been launched.
