Rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde recently took oath as the Maharashtra Chief Minister. On Monday, he won the trust vote by a 164-99 margin in the Assembly. As per reports, three MLAs abstained from voting.
Deciphering the floor test, BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya wrote, "The margin of victory, at 164-99, for the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance is bigger than what it managed to elect its Speaker with. It is obvious that more NCP and/or Congress legislators abstained. Uddhav and Pawar have lost control."
BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said that a true Shiv Sainik has won the trust vote. Addressing the Assembly, he also stated that the BJP's mandate in the 2019 Assembly elections was snatched away by Shiv Sena (led by Uddhav Thackeray), NCP and Congress.
Fadnavis, who is regarded as the most popular CM candidate in recent Maharashtra political history, backed Eknath Shinde firmly. He also ruled out pursuing vendetta or revenge politics against those who have been ridiculing him.
