Chikku Shraddha Kapoor Records Song For 'Ek Villain'

Impressed by the depth and emotional quotient of Shraddha Kapoor's voice in the trailer of ‘Ek Villain’, director Mohit Suri decided to take the actress's voice beyond the song and convinced singer-composer Raju Singh to integrate her voice in the background score of Balaji's ‘Ek Villain’.

Hence Shraddha Kapoor came for the recording Raju Singh's Juhu studio (Mumbai) and spend quality time with Raju, Mohit Suri and Tanuj Garg.

“In Ek Villain, the background holds a very important part, as it is the love story of a villain and one needs to keep the darkness in the romance element as well," explained Raju. “Mohit has an amazing music sense. And I felt this even with his film Zeher and his other movies till date. His sensitivity towards portrayal of relationships never ceases to amaze me. This time, Mohit mentioned Shraddha and the moment I heard her voice, I knew here was a singer with amazing potential.”

Ek Villain marks the first time a mainstream actress is not just singing a song – “Galliyan unplugged version” - but lending her voice to the film's background score. Music is in Shraddha’s veins, with her grandfather Pandrinath Kolhapure being not just a celebrated singer and a vichitra veena exponent but the cousin of singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle.

“Raju Singh has this never-say-die attitude. He will work on a film to the fullest, never mind night or day. And this has always inspired me,” admits Mohit Suri. “We work on background at times all night and back again in an hour and a half. And now, I am glad Shraddha is also a part of this creative process with her soulful voice.”

Shraddha grins, “When Mohit first heard me sing, he said, hmmmm…. And that is it. I am so glad I am here.”
