What happens when two big stars who are normally not seen before the media very often, appear before a hundred presspersons, including still and television cameras?
They face a hundred questions. When two big stars appealed to people, saying, ÂPlease allow us to act and not drown us in stardom, the audience burnt into spontaneous laughte because the stars in question were Kamal Haasan and 'Victory' Venkatesh.
They were at a function on Saturday evening where the logo of 'Eenadu', the Telugu re-make of the Bollywood hit 'Wednesday' was unveiled. Also present were Tollywood stalwarts and Guinness Record holders, Dasari Narayana Rao and D. Rama Naidu. Venkatesh plays the same role in the Telugu version that Mohanlal donned in the Tamil version. Apart from acting in both the makes, Kamal also produces it on his home, Raajkamal banner.
The former Union Minister Mr. Dasari Narayana Rao asked filmmakers and actors alike to show inclination to a fair degree of experimentation. ÂFor regular songs and fights, there are so many youngsters who are keen and capable, so those who have established themselves should do different cinema, he said.
ÂMost good films are made by cheating the producer simply because otherwise, they would probably never have allowed any degree of experimentation, Kamal said. The bilingual re-makes are being directed by Chakri Toleti a film technology graduate who worked with Disney for a while.
Dialogues of 'Eenadu' were penned by director Neelankanta of 'Show' and music was scored by Shruti Haasan.Chakri the debutant director is remembered as the boy who takes photographs of Jayaprada and Kamal in the film 'Sagara Sangamam', years ago. Those present at the function could not help but think that this could be one of those rare films in which the producer-actor is one who shot shot to fame even as a child star and directed by another child actor, now-turned-director.
