Thalapathy Vijay starrer 'Sarkar' has been in the hotbed of controversy as some of the ruling AIADMK ministers were offended by the alleged scenes and dialogues that mocked the Government schemes including freebies offered to the people and the name of the lead antagonist character which they claimed was an insult to their former leader and deceased Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha. ADMI cadre laid siege to theaters screening the film across TN and tore the banners and posters of the film and also entered in the altercation with fans and theater staff. The protests died down only after the makers removed certain shots and dialogues that were found offensive against the TN Government.

Now the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palanisamy who has been maintaining silence over the issue has lashed out at the makers of the film 'Sarkar'. He has asked where do they get money to produce such big budget film. it is only by selling tickets at Rs.1,000 and Rs.1,500, flouting Government norms.

Taking an indirect dig at Vijay, the CM said the film stars who earn in crores for each film do nothing good to people but they criticize the Government welfare schemes in their films.

He also lashed out at 'Sarkar' director A.R.Murugadoss for insulting the freebies given by the Government. He said the filmmaker's relatives have received the free goods offered by the Government and he has proof for that.
