Sheeran's involvement with the club earned him a runner-up medal in League One, which he collected during the match. Speaking to Town TV after the game, the singer said that it is good to be back home and confident as ever with Ipswich, stating, Ipswich are going up.

Visiting the stadium with Sheeran has been described by many as a surprise, with one long-time season ticket holder commenting on how friendly and approachable he was serving drinks behind the bar. Sheeran has also quoted that Ipswich Town feels like home and is planning on attending the next game at Portman Road against Preston North End.

In addition to his music career, Ed Sheeran has kept the act of an active member and being close to home by returning often in order to inspire and connect with local students. On this latest trip, he performed at Thomas Mills High for the students during a special assembly and impressed some, indicating that if not a worldwide musical superstar, then maybe he might have been teaching there himself. His humility as well as staying connected back home make him more of a fan favourite and hometown celebrity.
