ECKLL avoids clash with TRRP; moves to May

TA RA RUM PUM wave is on and the first flick to avoid the clash and move ahead to a latter day is EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL.

People associated with the film are honest enough to acknowledge that the first Yash Raj Films' offering of the year is a huge enough competition. Our source clearly states that it would be nothing sort of suicidal for ECKLL to be arriving so close to the Saif Ali Khan-Rani Mukherjee starrer.

Originally slated for an April 20 release, a week before TRRP takes over screens across the country, EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL would now be arriving on either May 11 or 18.

Says our source, There was no point for the film to come on April 20. The team had earlier designed its release strategy for April but then as things stand, TRRP would be arriving like a storm and would occupy all multiplex screen space across the country. ECKLL does have its strengths but then it is more of a word of mouth film which starts consolidating a place for itself from second week onwards. What's the point to bring on the film on April 20 only to find itself running at some odd places in Mumbai suburbs once TRRP arrives?

So what's the plan? Wait and watch, says the source with a tinge of disappointment, We hear that METRO is arriving on May 11 and that's something which needs to be kept in mind too. Looking at how things move in next few days, we should be able to close on a fresh date soon. But let me confirm yet again that director Sanjay Khanduri has come up with a commendable first time effort with ECKLL. We may bring the film in a while but it is surely going to be noticed in a big way once people see what the script, Abhay and Neha have to offer.
