Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar has looked into a petition seeking a ban on 'Lakshmi's NTR' until the elections. The petition, filed by a few members belonging to the TDP, says that the film's release should be postponed because it apparently tries to unduly influence the voters.
The Election Commission is learned to have decided that the film, on the face of it, doesn't violate the Model Code of Conduct. Reportedly, cases will be filed against the makers only if it is found that 'Lakshmi's NTR' has besmirched any political party.
Also, action will be taken against the film if any appeal for votes is there or if there is a mention about the caste, religion and certain other elements that can potentially influence people's voting behaviour.
The Ram Gopal Varma film is slated to be released on March 22.
