Recently, a train ran over dozens of people in Amritsar during a Dasara fest. It killed 61 people, injuring many more.
Its driver, Arvind Kumar, has been facing charges of negligence although he is not guilty. He has submitted to the railway authorities that he did apply emergency brakes and blew the horn but to no avail. The situation was out of control.
Meanwhile, a note written by him in Hindi is doing the rounds. Sections of media are reporting it as a suicide note but it's not. Arvind Kumar has not committed suicide "taking moral responsibility", as WhatsApp forwards are claiming.
"The driver of the DMU train Arvind Kumar has not committed suicide," said Police Commissioner Amritsar S Srivastava.
