Actress Shaun Romy who became noticed after 'Kammatipaadam', revealed that there was a time when her dusky skin tone troubled her. She laughingly admits that she used to pray to get a fairer skin. She says it is interesting how life comes a full circle with her skin tone becoming one of the reasons for her being cast in 'Kammatipaadam'.

Shaun Romy had played a Dalit girl in the movie. It was Geethu Mohandas who conducted her audition and cast her in the role. She had read up on the subject and prepared for the role to get it right, including the petrol scene or the Kochi slang. She is happy to have been part of a Rajeev Ravi movie.
