A 25-year-old man, identified as Kaleel Rahman, entered the Thadikombu branch of the Indian Overseas Bank in Dindigul on Tuesday morning. He then overpowered the three employees who were opening the bank using pepper spray and chilli powder and tied them up using plastic tags.
But, when he was attempting to loot the bank, one of the tied-up employees ran out, crying for help. The shocked public entered the bank and caught the culprit, Kaleel Rahman from Puchinayakanpatti.
Police sources revealed that Kaleel had watched several movies, including the recently released Ajith Kumar film ‘Thunivu’ and was inspired to attempt the bank robbery as he was vexed with life. It is also notable that there were also multiple reports of chain-snatching post-Valimai’s release, including one that happened right in front of this article author’s residence in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
