After a month long cinema strike in Kerala, Jomonte Suvisheshangal starring Dulquer Salmaan was the first to hit screens on January 19 followed by Mohanlal`s Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol that released on January 20th. Earlier Dulquer's fan base was confined to youngsters but with the release of this Sathyan Anthikad directorial, the actor he has widened his fan base to audience of all the age groups.

Interestingly, the youth icon has bettered Mohanlal in the satellite rights price. If the reports are to be true, Dulquer Salmaan`s Jomonte Suvisheshangal was brought by Mazhavil Manorama for a whopping sum of Rs 6.10 crores, while the satellite rights of Mohanlal`s Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol was bagged by Surya TV for a sum of Rs 5.80 crore.

Being pure family entertainers, both the movies have opened to positive responses from the family audience. Though social media was flooded with remarks about the similarities in the plots between Jomonte Suvisheshangal and Nivin Pauly`s Jacobinte Swargarajyam, that didn`t seem to have affected the audience count as families are still thronging to theatres in large numbers. Meanwhile, Munthirivallikal Thalirkumbol is also doing great business at the Kerala box-office.
