Following the release of Dulquer Salmaan's Kurup on Netflix, the makers have now hinted at a follow-up to the film that may or may not be a sequel. If you have watched the movie you would know that in the climax of 'Kurup', Dulquer appears as a character called Alexander. On Thursday, Dulquer shared a motion poster that strikes out 'Kurup' from the title to highlight 'Alexander', the identity that Kurup assumes at the end of the film. Sharing the motion poster, Dulquer wrote, "A criminal who has captured the imagination of an entire generation. A conman hiding in plain sight. When the wolf sheds his sheep’s clothing, he is one to watch out for!!" It is reported that 'Alexander' will not be a sequel to Kurup but the actor would be donning the same look and will be based on the title character in the new movie. An official announcement is expected soon.
Kurup was released in theatres on November 12 and was welcomed by a thunderous response, with theatres screening it still running to maximum capacity. The movie that had hit the screens soon after the theatres were reopened when the COVID 19 restrictions were lifted, ushered in a renewed energy for Malayalam cinema. Directed by Srinath Rajendran, Kurup also stars Sobhita Dhulipala, Indrajith Sukumaran, Shine Tom Chacko, and Shivajith Padmanabhavan, among others. A day ago, the movie got streamed on Netflix in five Indian languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada. Scripted by KS Aravind and Daniel Sayooj Nair, from a story by Jithin K Jose, Kurup was bankrolled by Dulquer’s home banner, Wayfarer Films.
