On the occasion of Eid, the makers of Dulquer Salmaan’s 'Kurup' released the second look poster of the film. Sharing the poster, Dulquer wrote, “In an ideal world today the film would have released in theatres all over. But guess we will have to make do with a poster release.”
The Srinath Rajendran directorial film was supposed to hit theaters on Eid but due to the coronavirus epidemic, its release date has been extended. Reportedly, the movie, which is backed by Dulquer’s home banner Wayfarer Films and M-Star Entertainments, has been made for a budget of Rs 35 crore, making it Dulquer’s most expensive film till date.
With the entire production process taking to 6 whole months, the team filmed in Kerala, Mumbai, Dubai, Mangalore, Mysore, and Ahmedabad for nearly 105 days. The movie is currently in the post-production phase, while the dubbing has already been completed.
'Kurup' is based on the true story of Sukumara Kurup, the most wanted criminal in the history of Kerala. Accused of murdering a film representative named Chacko, Sukumara Kurup faked his own death to claim a large amount of insurance. It is one of the longest unsolved cases in Kerala till date.
Dulquer plays Sukumara Kurup and Indrajith will be seen as the policeman investigating the crime. Reportedly, Dulquer will be seen in multiple looks. The cast of ‘Kurup’ also includes some other big names like Tovino Thomas, Sunny Wayne, Sobhita Dhulipala and Shine Tom Chacko.
Scripted by Daniell Sayooj Nair and K S Aravind, the movie's story is by Jithin K Jose. 'Luca' fame cinematographer Nimish Ravi is cranking the lens and Sushin Shyam is in charge of music and background scores. Editing is by Vivek Harshan.
