The tragic demise of 2019 Miss Kerala winner Ansi Kabeer (25) and runner-up Anjana Shajan (26) in a car accident has sent shockwaves across the state. Actor Dulquer Salmaan who has worked with both the models, took to his social media handle to pen an emotional note. "I had the great privilege of working with both these young and vibrant girls. Anjana did a small role in Salute. And Ansi did a TV commercial with me. I pray for their families and friends to get through these trying times.", wrote Dulquer.

Ansi is a native of Attingal in Thiruvananthapuram and Anjana is from Thrissur. Both Ansi and Anjana were winners of the pageant held in 2019. While Ansi started modelling right from her college days and is also an engineering graduate, Anjana is an Ayurvedic doctor by profession. The youngsters were killed when the car in which they were travelling hit a bike and lost control. There were four passengers in the car. While Ansi and Anjana died on the spot, the other two were seriously injured and were hospitalized. The mother of Ansi Kabeer attempted suicide on Monday soon after receiving the news of her death in a car accident last night. She consumed poison in an attempt to suicide and has been admitted to a private hospital by the police.
