Actor Dulquer Salmaan had acted in the Malayalam movie Varane Avashyamund which was also his first production venture under Wayfarer films, and the movie has now invited trouble again, after the recent illegal usage of the photo of a journalist.
A character in the movie names a dog as Prabhakaran, which has offended Tamil audience as it is the name of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran, and social media was filled with abusive hashtags degrading Dulquer Salmaan as well as his father, actor Mammootty. However Dulquer clarified that it was a reference to Prabhakara dialogue in Pattinapravesham directed by Sathyan Anthikkad, father of Anoop Sathyan who has directed Varane Avashyamund.
Dulquer Salmaan tweeted "To all those who were offended. I apologise. And I also apologise on behalf of #VaraneAvashyamund and @DQsWayfarerFilm !". He again tweeted the movie scene from Pattinapravesham and tweeted "To all those who were offended. I apologise. And I also apologise on behalf of #VaraneAvashyamund and @DQsWayfarerFilm ! This is the reference to the joke in question. The 1988 film “Pattana Pravesham”." While several netizens have accepted his reasons, many are still trending the negative hashtags with obscene images and captions.
