Due date of filing of IT Returns pushed further; Details inside

The Income Tax Department on Wednesday said that the Government has further extended the dates for various compliances in view of the continued challenges faced by taxpayers in meeting statutory compliances due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Here are the major highlights of the announcement.

Income Tax Returns by individual taxpayers for Financial Year 2020 has been extended to 10 January 2021. Earlier, the last date was 31 December 2020.

Income Tax Returns for FY20 by companies has been extended to 15 February 2021. This is a 15-day extension.

Filing of annual returns under CGST Act, 2017 for FY20 has been extended to 28 February 2021.

And the update on Vivad Se Vishwas Scheme is this: The due date has been pushed to 31 January 2021.
