An Air India Express aircraft from Dubai to Calicut with 191 passengers on board crashed after overshooting the runway and falling 30 feet into a valley.

Dubai-Kozhikode Air India flight (IX-1344) skidded during landing at Karipur Airport at around 7.45 pm today, as reported by Kondotty Police. Reportedly, the plane broke into two parts, and many passengers are injured, and fire tenders and ambulances were rushed to the spot to evacuate people from the accident spot.

As per reports, due to bad weather, the flight had landing trouble as it was a table top runway.

Over 45 severely injured were rushed to hospitals in Kozhikode. 17 injured passengers were rushed to Kondatti Mercy Hospital, 20 to Relief Hospital and Trauma Center, and eight passengers were rushed to Aster MIMS Hospital. It has been said that the pilot of this Air India Express flight, which was part of the Vande Bharat Mission, died in the accident.
