Uppena's first song, titled 'Nee Kannu Neeli Samudram', was out on Monday and it has become a big hit of sorts. Rendered by Javed Ali, its lyrics are by Shreemani (Telugu) and Raqueeb Alam (Hindi).
What went into conceiving a tune for the romantic song? Director Buchi Babu Sana wanted a tune that captures the essence of the situation, which has the male lead (debutant Vaishnav Tej) literally seeing divine beauty in the female lead (Krithi Shetty) in a temple. DSP sees love as oceanic and starts off the song with the right notes.
The lyrics are splendid. As we said in our review, "The line 'Nee oohale, oopiraina picchodini, nee oopire praanamaina pilladini' is high in terms of touching meaning. An appropriate song that positions 'Uppena' as a musical love story laced with intense emotions."
The film releases on April 2.
