It's known that, besides Bollywood, a few members of the Kannada film industry have been linked to a drug probe. Aditya Alva, the son of former Karnataka minister Jeevaraj Alva, is reported to be one of the key accused in the Sandalwood drugs case, also known as the Cottonpet drugs case. Alva recently went absconding as per the Bengaluru police.
On Thursday, suspecting that Alva might be hiding at Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi's home in Mumbai, searched his house. Vivek, who played the villain in the Telugu movie 'Vinaya Vidheya Rama', is the brother-in-law of Alva.
The police said that they went to search Vivek's house because they had got a tip-off that Alva was living there. A court warrant was obtained to carry out the search operation.
So far, 15 people have been arrested in the case. Sandalwood actress Ragini Dwivedi and 'Bujjigadu' actress Sanjjanaa Galrani are two of them.
