Drohi
Indira Innovations is one of the sister concern companies of Gemini Group of Companies founded by the doyen LV Prasad. The group has produced many a films like `Nuvvu Nenu' (Telugu) `Yeh Dil' (Hindi) `Vasool Raja MBBS' (Tamil) and `Shankar Dada MBBS' (Telugu) under various banners.
Now one more banner from the group is venturing in Tamil. That is Indira Innovations the producers of ``Drohi'. This is their maiden venture in Tamil. The producer of `Drohi' is Ms Mano Akkineni who is the granddaughter of Late L V Prasad. She has worked with Santhosh Sivan in the Direction side for films like `Terrorist', `Malli'. She has also worked as an Executive Producer for films like `Kireedam', `Yaavarum Nalam'and `13B' (Hindi).
The debutante director of `Drohi' is Sudha K Prasad also has worked with Mani Rathnam, as an associate director for his films "Yuva", Ayutha Yezhuthu", and "Guru", this would be her debut film as a director. With two experts at the helm ``Drohi'' is a film to watch out for.
`Drohi' is a double hero subject featuring Srikanth and Vishnu in the lead roles as tough guys. Srikanth who was always seen as a chocolate lover boy dons a new avatar. For Vishnu this is a change of image from what he was seen in his first film `Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu'. Pooja, Poonam Bajwa and Poorna are the female quotients. Thiagarajan, Thanikala Bharani, Manobala, S.N.Lakshmi, Meera Krishnan, Master Kishore, Master Vasanth and many others for the cast.
The single-line theme of the film is that `we all have been betrayers (`Drohi') at some point in time to somebody in life.' The film is a high energy story of two young friends, who love each other and hate each other to the same degree. They are road side gangsters. Even they have a loving family side and passionate romantic inclinations. The film is about how they balance to situations when time tests their relationships. The backdrop is the mean areas of violent North Chennai.
Vishnu said he was quite skeptical about the debutant woman director as the script given to him by her talked violent Chennai. But when he finished reading the script he decided on the spot to do the film. He also says director is a real task master.
Srikanth is also doing a toughie for the first time and he is said to have carried it wit ease. Of the three heroines in the movie Poorna and Poonam Bajwa have their romantic part but Pooja plays a powerful character after `Naan Kadavul'. The director says "Pooja, is actually the crux of the film."
Fast growing Sevaganesh is the music director and he has tuned five songs for the film. All songs are situational and stick to the very situation in the films. Lyrics are by Na Muthukumar and V.Elangovan. Dialogues by S.Sasi Kumar are G.Radhakrishnan has the North Chennai lingo in perfect sync. They are even expletive in many places bringing in realism.
The music of ``Drohi'' was launched on August 11 and doing well on charts. The film is releasing on September 10.
