Ajay Devgan's 2015 thriller flick 'Drishyam' was massively appreciated for its unique and gripping plot and fans are excited to see how the story is going to progress in the soon to be released sequel 'Drishyam 2'. While the whole cast of the original film will be seen reprising their roles, actor Akshay Khanna will be seen playing a new character, an officer investigating the case of Vijay Salgaonkar.
In a recent media interaction, director Abhishek Pathak shared why he chose Akshay Khanna for the role and how he managed to get him on board. He told ETimes, "We met him in Alibaug (at his home) and he told us that he hasn’t seen Drishyam. So, he had no idea of what the film was all about. He asked me why I wanted to cast him in a world that’s set and led by Ajay’s character. Later, he called me and said that he would like to do the film. He understood the character really well and shared ideas of the traits and behaviour of this character as he read through his part.”
Sharing how this film is different from the Malayalam 'Drishyam 2', Abhishek said, "It is a scene which we have modified as it is not there in the original Drishyam 2 (starring Mohanlal). It’s a 10-minute crazy scene. He is going to be a surprise in this film.”
The filmmaker concluded by saying, "Akshaye chooses his scripts very slowly and wisely. He always wants to play very specific roles. To do this role also, he had a thing in his mind. He said he loved the screenplay and he used to tell me that the second half of the film kadak hai, aankhe hi nahi zhapakti.”
