The 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) drug has been touted to be a very useful medicine for the treatment of moderate to severe Covid-19 cases. The drug was approved authorities recently.
The news is that, the Defence Research and Development Organisation-powered drug, is set for a launch very soon. As reported by ANI, the first batch of 10,000 doses of 2-DG medicine would be used for coronavirus patients from May 16 or 17.
A scientist has said that a drug maker is already increasing the production of the drug.
On May 8, the Drug Controller General of India granted permission for the emergency use of therapeutic application of the drug. "Being a generic molecule and analogue of glucose, it can be easily produced and made available in plenty," DRDO said.
