While the suicide news of a young Kerala woman named Vismaya sent shockwaves across the nation, the state has reported yet another death of a woman who allegedly faced severe harassment from her husband and in-laws. The deceased identified as Revathi Krishnan (23) ended her life by jumping to the Kallada river. Her relatives accused that she was tortured by the husband’s family over dowry.
Married to Saiju of Nilamel in August 2020, the 23-year-old had been subjected to harassment for not giving enough gold as a dowry. The incident came to light after Revathi did not respond to her parent's phone calls. When they visited her in-laws' house, they told that Revathy left home in an autorickshaw and they don’t know where she went. Revathi’s mother then went to the police station from where she learned about her death.
The last message that Revathi sent to Saiju reveals his father's involvement, said her relatives. The Police have recovered Revathi's phone and diary from the house and have initiated the investigation.
