Doubles
Megastar Mammootty is instrumental in presenting at least a couple of new directors to Malayalam, every year. Last year it was Vyshakh and Martin Prakkat who paid him back with memorable hits. And this year Mammootty will be presenting Sohan Seenulal with the new movie 'Doubles', which will get to theatres for this Vishu.
The movie will have the megastar as Giri, a very well known person in Pondicherry. He, with his non identical twin sister Gowry is running a emergency rescue services for all those who get into road accidents in Pondicherry and nearby area. In fact, Gowri and Giri are orphans from childhood, after their parents were killed in a road accident. Thereafter, it was one Frenchman named Pierre Sayyip, who took care of the twins. And when they grew up, they became rich but always considered Pierre just like their father and paid heed to all his demands and needs.
Gowri and Giri had all qualities of zygotic twins. They never lived apart and shared an intense bonding between them. And so they have decided not to marry, which may affect their love for each other. It was at this juncture that Giri and Gowri happened to rescue one girl named Saira Bhanu from a fatal accident. The twins were forced to take care of her as Saira has no where to go. The movie will go on to tell how the arrival of a anonymous girl changes the life of twins.
While Mammootty will present himself with a younger look and varied hairdo, Nadhiya Modhu, who had been the heartthrob of Malayalees in the eighties will make a comeback to Mollywood after two decades with this movie, playing the role of Gowri. Thapassi will come up as Saira Banu while Suresh Venjaaramoodu will be in a special role of Advocate Lorenz, a neighbour to Giri. Tamil star Abhay Bhargav will be Pierre Sayyip, while a big star cast including Salimkumar, Y G Mahendran, Sureshkumar, Anandraj, Bijukuttan, Saijukurup, Anoop Chandran and Geetha Vijayan will come up in other important roles.
Sohan Seenulal the debutante director had been the assistant to directors like Shafi, Rafi-Mecartin and Siddhique. This light hearted family movie will be scripted by Sachi -Sethu, who is currently enjoying the success off their latest venture 'Makeup Man'. P Sukumar handles the camera while V. Saajan does the editing. 'Subramaniapuramm' fame James Vasanthan will debut into Malayalam giving music to the lyrics written by Vayalar Sharath Chandra Varma.
