Doors closed for '7 Khoon Maaf'

It was clear by the time opening weekend of '7 Khoon Maaf' came to a close that there was no chance whatsoever for the film to do anything better over the remainder of the week. Poor word of mouth coupled with mixed reviews meant that the film was seeing the bottom of the barrel with every passing day. Resultantly, '7 Khoon Maaf' could barely recover from a poor weekend and netted a mere 15 crores once the first week came to an end. Since there were hardly any takers for the film, the second weekend also opened on a poor note for this Vishal Bhardwaj-Priyanka Chopra film, hence closing all possible doors.

A huge disappointment, both critically as well as commercially, the film has managed to recover a good amount from satellite and music rights strictly due to reputed names involved. However, good theatre business was still required for '7 Khoon Maaf' to be a success. However that hasn't happened which means that investors would suffer a definite loss here. Worse, from audience perception point of view, the film is a clear cut disappointment.

What does that mean for Vishal Bhardwaj and Priyanka Chopra? Well, the director here can well be expected to think a little more on commercial lines when helming a multi crore film with popular stars in future. As for Priyanka, she has popular outings like 'Don 2', 'Dostana 2', 'Krissh' and 'Barfee' to look forward to which means she doesn't really have to worry much about her commercial standing.

Other releases of the week, 'Kaccha Limboo' and 'Masti Express', have proved to be disasters at the box office and couldn't even gather a few millions between them in terms of collections.
