Actor Mahesh Babu feels that the secret of Dookudu's success is the universal character of the script. He immensely liked the character because it had got so many variations. It is the first time that Mahesh was cast in a role as distinctive as this one. He says that besides giving scope to do comedy, the script helped him slip into the cop character and the MLA character.

Unlike Pokiri which was character-based Dookudu has not cast an image spell on him, feels Mahesh. He okayed the script as soon as he heard it for this simple reason. He found it incredible when he was told the collection figures of the movie in the US.

He says that Prakash Raj's character was written uniquely.
