Don’t fiddle with us in West Bengal, Didi warns BJP

West Bengal chief-minister and Trinamool Congress president Mamata Banerjee has warned the ruling BJP at the Centre not to ‘fiddle’ with its brand of politics in her State. “You would get more than what you might imagine even in your wildest imagination,” Mamata warned.

BJP had lost its close allies such as the Shiv Sena and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in recent months, forcing launch of efforts to form the ‘third-front’ of non-BJP, non-Congress by the likes of Mamata. Didi, as she is referred to, had even sounded DMK’s working president M.K. Stalin a few days back on the possibility the DMK joining the third front as when the same is launched.

Addressing a mammoth rally in Kolkata on Thursday on ‘Internaional Women’s Day’, Mamata said “Shiv Sena and Telugu Desam Party have exited the NDA by breaking their alliances with the BJP which doesn’t seem to have time to listen to their demands. Does the BJP see the writing on the wall in States such as Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh?

“I caution that they should dabble in West Bengal at their own peril.  West Bengal would give a fitting reply to the BJP for its cheap tactics. I know they are dreaming about (usurping) West Bengal; it is not possible and easy at all.  Instead of the BJP trying to win over Bengal, it would be Bengal which would win over Delhi (and take over Red Fort). Few have understood the versatility of West Bengal and the Bengalis.

“West Bengal would do anything at its disposal to save the interest of its people. In fact, we are undertaking this protest not for the State but for the sake of the entire country,” Mamata concluded.
