The Madras High Court has severely condemned a person who had petitioned a case with the intention of using a famous man's name for self-publicity. Famous film producer Bothra claims that he had given a loan of Rs.65 Lakh to Rajinikanth's co-in-law Kasthuri Raja. He also alleged that Kasthuri Raja gave Rajini’s name as surety for the said loan.

The case has been going on for a while in the Chennai High Court and the court had this to say: This case itself has been filed for using the law for selfish and wrong reasons. It has the ulterior motive of bringing bad press to Rajinikanth, who commands a good name in the society, the court opined.

The court also stated that the petitioner had done this to leverage Rajini's name for self-publicity. Such cases with ulterior motives must be nipped in the bud itself, it said. Furthermore, the court also discounted the case levying a fine of Rs. 25,000 on the complainant.
