The High Court of Telangana on Saturday ordered that the SSC exams can't be held in the GHMC area, which is a Covid-19 hotspot. With cases going up in Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Ranga Reddy, the HC instructed the KCR government to postpone the SSC exams in these hotspots.
Also, those students who are not able or ready to take up exams from June 8 shall have the leverage to write supplementary exams in August or September without being identified in their marks memos as supplementary passouts. This order by the HC has been welcomed by parents and students in view of the prevailing extraordinary situation.
Exams in other districts can be held with proper precautions in place. The government is of the view that it is very difficult to conduct separate exams for GHMC and other parts of the State, given that new exam papers would have to be framed.
Previously, the HC had asked the Telangana government to file a reply in the court regarding the urgency to conduct exams from June 8.
Earlier in the day, the court is reported to have asked the government why it is not following the grading system that has been adopted in Punjab.
