'Rowdy' will be releasing world wide on April 4th and the director Ram Gopal Varma has given an exclusive interview to Indiaglitz.com ahead of the release of the film.

In this interview, RGV has discussed some interesting things about 'Rowdy' movie, his forthcoming projects, his views on Pawan Kalyan's 'ISM' book etc..

In his words...

May look like it

The film is an action entertainer with Rayalaseema backdrop. So it may look like 'Raktha Charitra'. But 'Raktha Charitra' is a revenge story, whereas 'Rowdy' deals with very good family sentiment. There is no comparison between the two films.

I convinced him

From my college days, I used to like Mohan Babu so much. I love his characters in movies like 'Sivaranjani' and 'Devatha'. I generally do realistic movies. But his is a cinematic approach. So I thought of showing him in a realistic character. He was impressed with the way I narrated the story and agreed to act without make up and wig.I tried to show how he behaves in real life on screen.

He is very serious

I have shown Vishnu acting in many comedy films. But he is more serious in real life. So I've decided to show his real life character on screen.

Definitely I've framed the story keeping both Mohan Babu and Vishnu in mind.

She is amazing

One can't describe Jaya Sudha's acting skills. She is an amazing actress. Strong female characters are very rarely seen in my movies. I thought only she would be apt for that role and approached her. I am really proud that she is a part of this movie.

Completely different from 'God Father' - When a violent movie with family emotions is made, definitely it will be compared with 'God Father'. God father was released in 1970's and it is a movie, influenced by which, I think more than a hundred versions were made . Even I made some movies like 'Sarkar' taking inspiration from 'God Father'.It has been loved by the audiences because every city, every village and every family has a God father. The father and son sentiment, violent backdrop may remind many of God Father. But the situations, characters and scenes are completely different from 'God Father'.

Family emotions

I've said before that I won't make movies with family sentiment. But the family in this movie is very different and they deal anything with violence. So it seemed interesting to me and have included family emotions.

Not away from Vodka

There have been some rumours that I was away from Vodka till the completion of 'Rowdy'. But I can't find the relation between movie and Vodka. I do every movie with the same dedication and I don't want to be away from Vodka for it.

She is very apt

Shanvi looks very cute and I thought she would be very apt for the role in this movie. There is a love story only in the sub plot and it is mainly a movie that deals with a father and a son. I've used Shanvi only for a small role, but that role is very important for this movie.

It's a foolishness

Every body has some calculations about a movie and will include some elements thinking that they will attract the audiences. But 90% of the movies fail. So if one guesses audiences mindset before making a movie, it is a plain foolishness.

So I used it

I like the cycle chase theme from Shiva so much and integrated it in this movie discussing with music director Sai Karthik. We use remix songs or a song reinterpret a song. So with the thought that why shouldn't we use a background score, we interpreted the 'Shiva' cycle chase background theme in Rowdy.

Very less

We have made this movie in a simplistic manner technically and the camera movements will be very less. It is only in an attempt to focus on the content and performances.

Never before in Telugu

We have used the Sync sound and it is never done before in Telugu. I have also used multi camera technique. But other than 'Nee Meeda Ottu' song, technical innovation will not be seen anywhere.

It is a dramatic sequence

Unlike the action sequences in other movies, the 11 mins action sequence in this movie will be very realistic and the audiences will feel it. So I better call it a dramatic sequence, than an action sequence.

Don't compare us

I have commented on 'ISM' book because it is a misinterpretation of many complex philosophies, which I cannot translate into Telugu and explain. I think Raju Ravi Teja is the primary writer of this book and I think he didn't understand the philosophies he tried to interpret in a right manner. Some are doubting that because Ramuism is getting overshadowed by 'Pawanism', I commented on ISM. Those are meaningless comments. How can I be compared with a big star like Pawan Kalyan ? I didn't really remember in which context Ramuism has appeared. The comparison between Ramuism and Pawanism is just foolishness.

I didn't intend to hurt anyone

I heard the slogan ''Congress hataav..Desh Bachaav". At state level, as Chiranjeevi is a popular face, I thought if that slogan would be apt for him and said " Chiranjeevi Hataav...Desh Bachaav". I didn't intent to hurt anyone.

Will work with him soon

I did not make movies based on songs of late and so I had not worked with Seethama Sastry for recent movies. I have a lot of respect towards him and I'll definitely work with him soon.

Both are different

If only story telling is important, a writer can narrate it on stage to audiences. Technology only enhances the content and cannot create it. One cannot criticize me of concentrating more on technique in 'Raatri' because only because if that technique is not used, movie would bore more. If any one criticizes me of not having a good story, I would accept. Both technique and story will not go together and which is important in them is a not correct question.
