RGV is back with yet another innovative idea that in itself has created humongous buzz about the film 'Dongalamutaa' for being made in a record number of 4.5 days in limited locations with a shoe string budget of Rs 6.5 lakh using Cannon 5D still camera. The background score, colour correction and other post-production work was done in a small hotel room in a cost effective manner without housing themselves in expensive studios.
Said to be a movie that could revolutonise the process of making a cinema if it clicks, Dongalamutaa is a comedy story where a person gets trapped and entangled in the gang war of two groups. The film shows two performance oriented women Laxmi Manchu and Charmee playing the roles of lady gangsters and if trailers are anything to go by, they are sure to win critical acclaim for their charecters. There are no romantic songs or special comedy tracks in this film. It is a action thriller meant to be watched exclusively for technical brilliance.The trailer song 'Debbaku Tha Dongala Muta' was well choreographed and managed to evoke curiosity among audience.
As Varma said, the movie will be a hit even if one show is a housefull as there was no major investment in making this project. The star cast and seven member technicians too didn't charge any remuneration for this project. According to the agreement, they will all share the revenue out of collections. RGV claims that this movie was made to prove a point that a film can be made with very less budget if technology is made the right use of.
Censored recently with a clean U, the movie will decide the fate of RGV in Tollywood. If this too bombs, he will lose all value, respect and image he potrays himself to be.
The film will hit the screens on March 18th. Irrespective of how the content is, the movie will easily break even as there is no budget involved. The only thing that remains to be decided it how much money this penniless movie makes at the box office.
