Following an amusing tweet posted by US President Donald Trump last night, netizens were shocked and enthralled as the POTUS claimed that the Moon was a part of red planet Mars while criticizing NASA on their upcoming mission. Memes and trolls started pouring in soon after, with Donald Trump ending up as a laughing stock yet again.

In response to NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine’s earlier remark that US astronauts would not be able to make a lunar landing by 2024 unless Trump administration’s $1.6 billion budget increase request is not approved by the US Congress, Trump posted, “For all of the money we are spending, NASA should NOT be talking about going to the Moon - We did that 50 years ago. They should be focused on the much bigger things we are doing, including Mars (of which the Moon is a part), Defence and Science!” The internet exploded immediately after the ridiculous proclamation was made, which not only made people question his IQ, but also left them surprised as his statement did not just contradict a universal fact, but also contradicted his own statement which was made three weeks earlier when he hailed the idea of a lunar visit. “Under my administration, we are restoring NASA to greatness and we are going back to the Moon, then Mars,” Trump mentioned in the post.

The tweet was met with responses from several celebrities across the globe. "Trump's knowledge on this matter is one small step for man, one giant leap backward for mankind," Emmy-nominated filmmaker Jeremy Newberger said. "Based on the President's track record here on Earth, I don't think NASA needs his input on how to handle space," Sam Vinograd, CNN’s National Security Analyst posted.

The Mars, however, does have two moons of its own, called Phobos and Deimos. Although Donald Trump most certainly was not referring to them.
