Donald Trump has been impeached for the second time in his single term. The US House of Representatives has reportedly impeached the outgoing President only a few days before his term comes to an end. The House voted 232-197 to impeach him. As many as 10 members of the Republican Party joined the Democrats to impeach him.
The reason for impeachment is obvious. Trump has been accused of inciting a deadly riot at the US Capitol recently with the alleged aim of preventing Joe Biden from taking over. Trump is the first president to be impeached twice in the history of his country.
In an address, Biden has said that the Capitol insurrection was an unprecedented assault on our democracy. "It was unlike anything we have witnessed in the 244-year history of our nation. This criminal attack was planned and coordinated," the President-elect said.
Biden said that the assault was carried out by political extremists and domestic terrorists. "It was an armed insurrection against the US and those responsible must be held accountable," he added.
