Don and Pathaaka which arrived last day before Onam don't satisfy the audience as both the films make a feel of cliche plots. Pathaaka starring Suresh Gopi is devised as a political thriller. Suresh Gopi looks tired out and is repetitive of what he has done in so many films in the recent past. His body language and dialogue delivery makes the film with out new substance or style. The Script writer Robin Thirumala assimilate a lot of things to tell in his share of two hours but finally finds himself in a mess.

On the other hand Shaji Kailas has once again borrowed liberally from his every previous films, and scenes from Hollywood, Bollywood and other South Indian flicks. Dileep, is also restricted in a cliched role in this action movie. The scripter blindly follows many other sequences and styles of Lal films. And viewers find it difficult to place Dileep in a role tailor-made with Lal's sequences.
