Domestic civil aviation operations are set to recommence in a "calibrated manner" from the coming Monday (May 25). This was on Wednesday confirmed by Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
"All airports and air carriers are being informed to be ready for operations from 25th May. Standard Operating Procedures for passenger movement are also being separately issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation," the Minister added.
Specific rules pertaining to the recommencement of operations are yet to be notified.
On Tuesday, the Minister said that it is not up to the Civil Aviation Ministry or the centre alone to decide on resuming domestic flights. "In the spirit of cooperative federalism, the states where these flights will take off and land should be ready to allow civil aviation operations," he said. The latest decision seems to have been taken even though no State had made a request to resume airline operations.
