‘Kithakithalu’, the 2006 comedy entertainer, was directed by EVV Satyanarayana. The late director delivered a hit for his son, Allari Naresh, who played a low-brow male who constantly insults his overweight wife (played by Geetha Singh). While the film is considered one of the best comedies ever, Naresh feels that he would land in trouble if he were to do such a film today.
“They would surely accuse me of doing body-shaming and throw me in jail,” the actor said in his latest interview. He added, “I recently read a social media user say that ‘Kithakithalu’ is over-rated and that the film is all about body-shaming a woman. That’s the point of the film. It’s in the story.”
Naresh, who awaits the release of ‘Bangaru Bullodu’ this January 23, opined that the audiences have become too sensitive of late. He wants to do dark comedies and recently loved the Hindi-language film ‘Lootcase’.
